Please remember to delete notes in patrons’ account when you’re resolving a snag. Thanks!
From now on, please send patrons with new cards to reference to get a computer pass. We will no longer be handing them out at either the cashier station or back-up circ desk.

For the next couple weeks, please put the date and time on any YA cart rolled over to Sally’s desk. We need to determine exactly how long carts are sitting there before being shelved. We then need to write down when the carts are shelved. Please leave the notes on Shaun’s desk.
Classic feature films are movies produced before 1970 or produced by: A&E, Acorn Media, BBC, BFS, Granada, Masterpiece Theater, PBS, and WGB. Classic DVDs should all have a “Classic” label. Classic DVDs are no longer getting an orange or purple label since those labels are used to indicate which machine the item is in. Due to the volume of items, we are not going to go back and remove the orange or purple labels from the original Classics. We hope that our patrons will get the idea that anything that says Classic is on the open shelves.

List of print magazines is now available on the website:http://corvallis.libguides.com/magazinesandnewspapers
Summer Bookmobile Schedule Ready
Copies have been placed with Circulation, Adult Services and Youth Services. The new schedule starts June 15th and runs through August 31st. The stops are listed on the public Evanced calendar as well.
Tender Earbuds at Cash Station
When taking money for ear buds, please tender it. We occasionally find dollar bills in the cash drawer with notes that say “ear buds.” It is much easier to balance the cash drawer when that transaction appears on the cash report. You can use the AAA Dummy account to create a new charge, then tender it.
From Shaun re: unacceptable addresses
I ran reports looking for patrons with mail center (rather than residential) addresses. I expired a number of accounts and noted the need for a residential or secondary address. If you see an increase in the number of folks who need to verify their residential address, that is why.
I posted the mail center addresses on the phone station bulletin board. I’m also asking TLC to make it so the system recognizes flagged addresses as they are entered. But don’t hold your breath…
Smoking Ban
Council voted to approve banning smoking within 50 feet of the Corvallis library, with the exception of the lawyer’s office in our block. We are working on getting some signage and will do some sort of education campaign.

We had an AV cart that was shelved in Adult which had a mixture of Juvenile and Adult non-fiction DVDs on it. We do have some volunteers that need retraining and we will be addressing that issue, but staff should really be double checking to see that they aren’t shelved that way. Everything was in order, just a mixture of Juvenile within adult. Let’s take an extra minute or two and make sure that the carts are right before shelving them.
Thanks!

When working at the Cash station and a patron needs extra help such as looking for a hold, items put in the book drop instead of bringing it to the desk, help with DVD’s etc. please call for backup if you need to leave the desk.
I’ve noticed a couple of times there has been a long line of patrons waiting for help and the cashier is off helping someone. We are so good at giving personal service to patrons, which is wonderful, but others in line don’t know what is going on. Have them step aside and get someone to either cover the desk or help the patron who needs special attention.
